It was all a dream, until Artist Fabio Mesa was hired to bring his inspiration to Brickell’s Fortune House in December of this year. Fabio, a well established artist in Colombia, has been traveling to Miami to paint and participate in art exhibits for years. Brickell’s Fortune House is his largest project to date and is set to be completed by January 2017. His talents were recognized by Giovanni Pena, owner of Guthoy Builders, who is currently renovating the building. Giovanni had acquired some of Fabio’s artwork years prior and was excited for him to have the opportunity to feature his work in a massive way.
Fabio’s new artwork can be seen on the side of Fortune House on 14th Terrace directly across from The Four Seasons Hotel in Brickell. It is one of the first large murals in the neighborhood and will hopefully start the trend of more artwork coming to the area. Fabio’s son, Santiago, who accompanied his father on this trip, describes the figures in the mural as a representation of all of us. “People ask us where the women are or why they are all men. Really they are all the same gender, the same sex and the same race. They represent all people because we are all people and we all have dreams.” Santiago explains that helping his father with his Dream Weaver Project has been a real adventure. They hope that the exposure will help Fabio to be able to realize his dreams of being featured in even more top galleries around the world, along with many other great artists.
Fabio is a true artist – even his tshirts are handpainted with the work from his murals. His passion for art and illustration is evident in the work he produces.
